A Mirror Darkly

We all must face our demons, the dark parts of ourselves that we hide away from others. In Da’Loya, the monster within is more often than not a very literal thing. Laumé has accepted the blood of prowlers to give her strength enough to fight the demons and monsters of the world, even though this condemns her to eventually becoming a monster herself.

This piece was sketched in Procreate using an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. It presents original characters, creatures, and the world of In the Shadow of the Ancients. ItSotA is a comic project that I am working on with my husband, based on a tabletop roleplaying game campaign we ran over the course of years. It was a multifaceted adventure, that spanned multiple groups and branching storylines, and utilized Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeon World, Torchbearer, and Pathfinder.
