Meet the Artist: FlatAsABird by FlatAsABird Meet the Artist: FlatAsABird by FlatAsABird
I know I'm like five million years late with this, like usual for art memes, but here is my meet the artist pic. Any questions?

This was a digital sketch, drawn in Manga Studio 5 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3.

Thanks! I only realized afterwards that it looked so much plainer than other artists.
I should have put some color or something in the background or behind the text.

I looooooove cupcakes! They're the best food!
And thank you! While my hair is very fluffy and well maintained, I may have used a tiny bitty bit of artistic license. :)

How do you like Surface Pro 3? My current laptop is about to kick the bucket and I'm thinking of getting one, but I'm not sure how well it works for digital art.
Also this is very cute. :D

I love the Surface Pro 3, and would definitely recommend it. It's a great machine for making art, and a great laptop replacement in general. I've stopped using Wacom tablets since I got it. There was a small learning curve the first few days, because of the smooth glass screen, but I would say it was transformative for my art. If you can get a deal on one with good specs, definitely go for it. I primarily use Manga Studio 5 with it, but it handles Photoshop very well too.

Late, perhaps, but still very nice.

Thanks! I'm always behind the curve on these things. I don't think I get the same artist newsletters that all the cool kids get.

It's disgusting! Ever year for New Years my mom used to make a traditional Italian dish with fennel. It was the literal worst.

My response when offered something with fennel is usually "Or you can just punch me in the face, that works too!"

Better late than never! So much technology, in such a small space - you're certainly no slouch when it comes to digital art! :dummy:

Yeah... thanks! And the bag does contain a trove of digital art equipment. I've slowly worked my way up to it over the years. Which is crazy for something that's just a hobby. But it brings me a lot of joy and I hope one day to be good enough to make professional art.

I wouldn't have said it was crazy, you know? You're obviously taking your hobby seriously, which is a firm first step on the road to professional artistry - you say you'd be good enough 'one day', but I personally think it's never too early to take the leap and become a pro. I started out as a hobbyist too, but there came a time when I wanted to 'step up' and make it a main focus in my life - and if I can do it, you certainly can.

Thanks for the encouragement! That's great to hear. In my case the devices are great and definitely helping me step up the quality of my art, but time to practice and draw is what I have a shortage of these days. I wish I could make art full time.
